Today’s featured post was sent over by Elma, and is all about the wonderful sounding island of Cyprus – which we’ve yet to visit! After reading this post though, it’s firmly on our to-do list!

If you haven't already been to Cyprus, then you are in for a treat. Not only is the climate amazing, the food wonderful and the nightlife second-to-none, but it's history, beautiful beaches and scenery make it a place for everyone. With a flight time of just 04 hours 25 minutes from the UK, in no time at all you will be sitting outside a beachfront taverna sipping a local beer or wine. The lovely Mediterranean climate makes it the perfect destination at any time of the year.

Great places To Visit

On such a fun island there is ample to see and do – everything from the historical to the outrageous. Make your Ayia Napa trip more interesting by exploring the famous waterworld theme park; where you will be able to try out the incredible Thunderbolt and Lighting with its 75 metre vertical drop or have your feet nibbled at the Hygeia Fish Spa.

For something more sedate there are many wonderful boat trips that will stop at beautiful little coves; the snorkelling is amazing. The Rock of Aphrodite at Petra Tou Romoiu is fascinating and in Nicosia you will be able to visit the Tombs of the Kings, the burial place of 100 aristocrats dating back to the 3rd century BC.

Unusual Activities in Cyprus

If you want to try something different then this is the place for you. Imagine walking along the seabed wearing a special type of diving helmet that allows you to breathe and see perfectly. The turquoise waters are so clear and the sea life will welcome your company. The rock formations from this depth, around three or more metres, are incredible. If you don't have an underwater camera, don't worry, your guide will take photos and videos for you.

Blokart racing is very exciting, it is literally land sailing; very fast and a lot of fun. After 15 minutes of tuition, you will be ready to drive the BloKart either leisurely or as fast as you want. If you enjoy an adrenaline rush, then this is definitely for you.

After all this exhilaration, enjoy the tasty Cypriot cuisine. For lovers of freshly caught fish, vegetables picked that day and tender chargrilled meats, then where better than your favourite restaurant as you watch the sun sink below the horizon.
Cyprus will leave you with memories that will ensure you return time and time again.
