Cyprus: A Quick Resort Guide

We’ve had a number of featured posts on the subject of Cyprus recently – this is clearly an island with a lot to offer, with everything from cycling to nightclubs on hand. Whichever of those options appeals though, you’re going to want somewhere to stay, which is where today’s post from Nikolai comes in, featuring four very different resort areas – one of which will suit you I’m sure! Enjoy!

With something for everyone, a Cyprus holiday will undoubtedly appeal to most people in search of a short haul summer break. Nestled in the Med, between Turkey and Greece, the island of Cyprus is diverse enough to attract people of all walks of life during the summer season.

From golden beaches to lush green hills and craggy mountains, whatever you’re interested in doing during your summer break, Cyprus will likely provide. During the year, the island benefits from over 3000 sunshine hours – substantially more than our feeble British attempts and a perfect reason to plump for the island as a getaway resort.

While the Troodos Mountains hold a vast array of excursions, such as Byzantine monasteries and hiking trips, the beaches are awash with water sports opportunities for those who like more water-based thrills.

Fancy yourself as a bit of a clubber? The lively resort of Ayia Napa continues to attract party-goers year after year, travelling to the resort for the promise of late night bars and clubs to keep their party mood satiated.

Alternatively, Paphos is a perfect option if you want the best of both worlds. From the vibrancy of the new town to the more rustic, traditional attractions of the old town, you can enjoy everything from archaeological museums and theatre ruins to small, tranquil beaches to while away your days.

If you’re travelling with young ones, the resort of Protaras can be found in the south east corner of the island and is much quieter than some of the other resorts in Cyprus. With arguably one of the best beaches, you can enjoy hours digging in the sand, playing games or paddling in the warm seas with your youngsters for perfect, quality time.
