To holidaymakers around the world, Cancun is known for its warm climate, boisterous nightlife, and plentiful entertainment options. Surely, it would be a shame to miss out on this Mexican city's nightlife scene if you are there on holiday. Cheap margaritas and nightclubs are all very well, but chances are that you may want (and/or need) to recover from your outings by taking it easy the following day. Luckily, there is no shortage of relaxing options in Cancun. Below you will find the top suggestions for a chilled holiday in the Mexican Caribbean.

Cancun's beaches

Nothing better to recover from a night and partying and clubbing than spending a day relaxing at one of Cancun's beaches. There are nearly 13 miles of beaches in the city, and although most of them are closed to the public and only open to hotel guests, Cancun's public beaches are a fantastic option too. If you are after white powdery sand and turquoise water, head to Playa Delfines (Dolphin Beach), located at the end of the hotel zone. Other recommended beaches are Marlin and Caracol.

Parque Kabah

This is a large city park that not many tourists know about. Parque Kabah is located a 15-minute walk from Cancun's city centre and is the ideal place to escape the noise and traffic of the city. Most likely, you will be tempted to take a nap under the lush vegetation and palm trees at this park, or to just sit by the pond and watch the turtles and parrots as they chill out too.

Shopping

If retail therapy counts as a relaxing activity for you, take a tour of Cancun's best shopping centres. Starting at the hotel zone, you will find two high-end shopping centres: La Isla and Plaza Kukulkan. Here you can find luxury brands like Gucci and Louis Vutton, but also local designers, artisan shops, bars, and restaurants. Plaza Caracol is another mall closer to town but still bang in the centre of the hotel zone's action. For a more local experience, try Plaza Las Americas in Cancun centre.

Day trip to Isla Mujeres

Another option is taking a day trip to Isla Mujeres, a lovely Caribbean island just a few minutes away from Cancun. You can hop on a ferry near Tortugas Beach in the hotel zone or at Puerto Morelos, on the outskirts of the city. Once there, you can enjoy the slow pace of island life or book yourself into some water activities that are famous in the island, such as swimming with dolphins, snorkelling, fishing, and diving.

As you can see, there are many good reasons why Cancun is considered one of the world's greatest getaways. If you are looking for a holiday destination where you can enjoy perfect weather all year round, a vibrant nightlife, fantastic food, and plenty of opportunities to chill out and relax, don't think twice: Cancun is your kind of place.
