And we’re back with another round up of photos from the Finding the Universe Facebook page, taking this to edition six. How the time flies. In case you’re new here, we share daily (sometimes more, sometimes less) photos from our travels around the world on our Facebook Page.
We then post a monthly-ish round up right here on the blog of some of the most popular ones, in case you a) don’t use Facebook or b) missed any!
This series has been very popular, so I see no reason to stop! This update is going to be stuffed full of shots from Thailand, as that’s what we’ve been up to for the last couple of months. Enjoy, and as always, let us know your favourites in the comments at the end.
Let’s get started:
We’ve spent a couple of weeks in the Trang region of southern Thailand, which has a very Chinese feel, right down to the food and the temples. Watch out for the tiger in this one!
From Nakhon si Thammarat (post to follow soon!) we took a day trip to Khao Luang National Park, where we saw some quite gorgeous waterfalls. We also came across this, which we first thought to be a flower. Upon closer inspection, it turned out the flower was looking at us, and if you look closely you can see this is actually an insect – an Orchid Mantis, of the praying mantis family. The head is at the top of the shot. Pretty incredible!
In Khao Sok national park we came across a whole bunch of friendly monkeys. These were my two favourite photos of the bunch 🙂
Khao Sok National Park is mostly famous for its lake, where we stayed on a raft house for a wonderful evening. Full post on that to follow as well of course, as well as the following view from the lake house:
It’s not all hard work of course. Vera takes some time to relax in Khao Sok at our accommodation – Smiley’s Bungalows. Where they really did smile a lot!
One morning in Hua Hin, we even made it up to see the sunrise. Totally worth it!
And on the flipside – here’s the sunset in Hua Hin! Also the first sunset of 2013. Not a bad way to start the year 🙂
Found this guy on the beach on one of our many wanders around Hua Hin. He was part of a large driftwood and flotsam art installation that someone had clearly spent a lot of time putting together from whatever they found. Very cool!
All that sunset action reminded me of our time in New Zealand, so I shared this oldie from our New Zealand trip!
Thinking back over 2012 also reminded me of our Barcelona trip, so I had to share this shot of Barcelona’s cathedral 🙂
The endless reflections on Hua Hin beach let me play around with some funky Instagram shots, like this one of Vera!
And of course – multiple sunset shots! You just can’t have enough.
Here’s another Instagram moment – this one in Ayutthaya, a Thai city which really surprised me.
This is a statue at Phnom Rung, an old Khmer temple built on top of an extinct volcano, and one of the most important Khmer ruins in Thailand.
And this is another Khmer style temple in the Korat region of NE Thailand. Lots of posts to come on Thailand still folks!
And it’s another temple in Korat. Thailand is not short of a temple or two you’ll notice.
It’s another sunrise shot – this time across the Mekong river up in the Golden Triangle.
And I think we can finish with another temple, this time in Chiang Mai.
I hope you enjoyed this photo journey! As always, your thoughts and comments are welcomed 🙂
